The Prices of Fuel, and My Sad Story
I’ve had my Ps for about a year, and during this time I have managed to run out of fuel approximately 4 times. I am ridiculously bad when it comes to letting my fuel tank run empty. I could ramble on and on with excuses as to why this happens but I really do blame this mainly on the price of fuel and the quality you get with that price. For Regular Unleaded here in Queensland at the moment, you are being charged $1.52AUD per litre. About 10 years ago it used to be .60c. This is a LOT of money and it comes to even more when fuel is not as good quality as it should be.
I have this favourite place that I use to fill up my car all the time. Why? They are cheaper, and the fuel lasts longer. Don’t ask me how or what the fuck I mean, all I know is that when I fill up at this servo, I get more for the price I’m paying. This favourite place of mine is ages away from where I live and usually in the complete opposite direction of the way I’m usually going so I rarely ever feel bothered to go there to fill up when I don’t need to, so I hold off all week long hoping that something will come up and I will go past this petrol station that is my favourite. When I don’t get this opportunity, this is usually when my fuel runs out. Damnit.
I know I sound like a complete cheap ass right now but when you’re paying $60 to fill a 40 litre tank, your wallet starts to feel a bit empty. So this is why I always run out of fuel. Because the prices are so goddamn high and I am a huge cheap ass!
Leading me on to my next point - today was the stupidest day of my whole entire life. Today, not only did I run out of fuel but I had also forgotten my wallet WHICH IS ILLEGAL AND IF I HAD BEEN PULLED UP WITHOUT MY LICENSE I WOULD HAVE RECEIVED BIG BIG BIIIIIIG FINES THAT ARE WORTH EVEN MORE THAN THE PRICE OF FUEL AT THE MOMENT! I felt like such a dick when I had to call Jason up and ask him to please come and put fuel in my car because a) I had forgot my wallet and b) I was on empty. I felt even worse when he arrived 2 hours later in a really sour mood because he had had a really bad day at work and my call had topped the cake.
I think from now on, I’m just going to start paying the ridiculous amount for fuel because it saves the hassle of running out of fuel and even though there is a massive difference between my favourite service station and all the others, I’m going to have to do it.
Oh, and P.S, I need a new car because my accelerator stopped working today. On the highway. In the fast lane. Going 100km/hr. I almost did not survive to post this.
Your fuel is cheap. Last time I filled up, (Or, put $20 in because it’s all I can afford.. Or, what I could bring myself to ask to borrow from my boyfriend.. ) it was sitting at $2.10~. I got 9.46 liters, which was 1/4 of a tank. I live 45 minutes out of a major town, I need to get a WOF on Wednesday, but I have no petrol! AH.
In saying my ramble, I’ve NEVER run out of petrol. I’ve always made it to the petrol station in time. I’ve gone about 60KM~ on the E light. I have a beast of a car, I need to “downgrade” before I head to uni.
How does your accelerator stop working? That’s scary! :x
Have you heard of Auto Max Nano Tech Fuel Enhancer? My family uses it even though petrol is cheap here (Super Unleaded is about AUD0.40 here) and we still use it. It apparently saves the fuel? Can’t remember exactly what it does but we save money in the long run. Try that, maybe?
As a completely random guy from the UK who just wandered across this blog I’ve gotta say that your fuel is actually pretty cheap. In Scotland I pay just over £1.40 / litre - I think that equals about AUD 2.10.
More importantly than that, why the hell is it illegal to not have your licence in Australia?!? Not having a go but that is a pretty random law - I’m sure if you ran that in Europe it would be called a violation of human rights and we’d naturally refund the whole value to Greece as a subsidy ;O)
Anyway, back to work - global financial crisis isn’t going to deepen without me.

But about the license thing - if you hold an “Open” License here you have 24 hours to take it to the nearest police station after being pulled up without it on you. Because I am just on my Provisional License (I can’t have alcohol, I have a curfew that nobody listens to blah blah blah) they can fine me on the spot a lot of money. I think its a pretty good idea because that stops a lot of P Platers who don’t really have their license from driving because we are little shits and we will try and get away with it
